Learn the Steps to Generate your JAMB Profile code using SMS or USSD for e-Pin purchase.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has informed candidates interested in registering for the 2025 UTME to start creating their individual profiles (profile code) now, in preparation for the official start of the registration process.

The Board also recommended that candidates obtain their National Identification Number (NIN), as it is necessary for UTME/DE registration.

Here’s a Guide on Generating your JAMB Profile Code.

JAMB has stated that candidates must create a profile before heading to any CBT center. It's recommended that candidates set up their profiles using SMS or USSD.

All candidates planning to register for the 2025 UTME should start creating their profiles (profile code) now, well in advance of the official registration period, to steer clear of any potential delays.

Attention To All Candidates:

1. A Previously Used Number refers to a GSM Telephone Number (SIM) that has been utilized for creating Profile Codes, vending e-PINs, and registering in earlier registration exercises. This number can only be used for the 2025 Registration by the same candidate.

2. If a candidate is using their previous number for the second or third time, they will need to use the same profile code to acquire a new e-PIN.

3. Existing profiles or numbers that have already been used cannot be transferred to another candidate.

4. Each candidate must have a unique mobile number (SIM) for the registration process. This unique phone number is exclusive to one candidate only and serves as their identification for all transactions with the board.

5. It is essential that no two individuals use the same GSM number to start the registration process, as this is not permitted. The system is designed for one individual to have one telephone number, which must remain exclusive to that person throughout the entire examination process. Even siblings are not allowed to share a phone number for this purpose.

Make sure to verify your information with NIMC to confirm that your details match your claims before setting up your profile, as changes to your name and date of birth will not be allowed. In 2025, any updates made by NIMC will be reflected in JAMB records. However, any replaced data will be monitored and noted as a footnote on the candidate's profile.

1. Steps to Generate Your JAMB Profile Code Using SMS.

To generate your JAMB Profile Code through SMS, simply text your National Identification Number (NIN) to either 55019 or 66019 using your personal mobile number. For instance, type 'NIN,' followed by a space, and then your 11-digit NIN. Send it in this format: NIN 00123456789 to 55019 or 66019.

Make sure to leave a space between the word 'NIN' and your 11-digit NIN (remember, this number must not have been previously registered by someone else for UTME/DE). Avoid using postpaid or special bundle SIM cards, as they only work if they have been specifically loaded with credit.

A fee of 50 Naira will be deducted from the SIM. Before you send the USSD code, please ensure that your phone number has a minimum balance of N50 Naira.

Candidates will receive a profile code consisting of ten characters on the same phone number. It's important to note that the phone number used to send the text message to either of the two quick codes will be automatically linked to the candidates' names and will be utilized by the Board for all communications regarding application, examination, and admission.

Here’s a Guide on Generating Your JAMB Profile Code using USSD.

To generate a JAMB Profile code using USSD, candidates need to dial either *55019*1*NIN (National Identification Number)# or *66019*1*NIN (National Identification Number)# and send it to receive their unique 10-digit profile code. For instance, you can use *55019*1*00123456789# or *66019*1*00123456789#.

Please note that a fee of 50 Naira will be deducted from your SIM card. Make sure you have a minimum balance of N50 Naira in your phone before sending the USSD code.

Please Take Note:

1. Candidates will need to provide their profile code when obtaining the form from various sources such as banks, MMOs, MFBs, switches, or USSD partners. After this, an ePIN will be sent to the candidate's phone via text message.

2. To register, candidates must present both the ePIN and profile code at any CBT Centre accredited by JAMB.

3. The registration process cannot be finalized until the candidate's biometrics (all ten fingers) are captured and a physical photograph is taken (passport photos cannot be submitted). Once the biometrics and photograph are successfully captured, candidates will be able to print their e-registration slip. The fingerprint will be necessary for any future transactions related to the candidate's profile with JAMB.

4. Only those candidates whose biometrics are verified successfully on the day of the examination will be allowed to take the UTME. Parents or any representatives are not permitted to conduct any transactions on behalf of the candidates.

5. Candidates facing biometric issues must register at the JAMB headquarters in Abuja. JAMB state offices will facilitate the necessary arrangements for this.

6. Candidates who are proficient in using computers can register independently at select JAMB offices and PRCs.

Steps to Recover a Lost NIN Using USSD.

1. If you've misplaced your National Identification Number (NIN), you can easily get it back by dialing *346# from the mobile number you used during your NIN registration.

2. Once the options appear, choose “NIN Retrieval” by entering ‘1’, provided you're using the same phone number you registered with.

3. Your NIN will then be retrieved and sent to your phone.

Please Take Note:

i. For those people whose SIM cards used for the registration of NIN have been reallocated, NIMC urged such people to visit their telecom registration centres to have their NIN merged with their current SIM card.
ii. For name modification, individuals are urged to visit the NIMC office and pay the sum of N500 via Remitta. Further breakdown showed that for those adding or changing a new name, newspaper publication, and court affidavit are required, while those with misspelled names require no newspaper publication.
iii. Those who are yet to enroll are advised to visit https://www.nimc.gov.ng/ and the nearest enrolment centre to complete the registration.

Here’s How to Get Back a lost Profile Code.

To get back a lost Profile Code, simply text [RESEND] to 55019 or 66019 using the same mobile number. If you need to reset a forgotten Profile Password, you can do so by sending a text message with [PASSWORD] followed by a space and your email address to 55019 or 66019 from your registered mobile number.

Here’s a Guide on Retrieving a lost ePIN after making a Payment.

1. If you haven't received your ePIN or if it's lost, simply text [UTMEPIN] or [DEPIN] to 55019 or 66019 for UTME or DE, respectively, using your unique number.

2. Once you send the message, your ePIN will be retrieved and sent to your unique number.

After successfully making your payment and obtaining your ePIN, you should head to any JAMB-accredited CBT center to finalize your JAMB registration.

JAMB Complimentary Complaint Ticket System.

For any issues regarding JAMB processes, candidates are encouraged to submit a support ticket at (https://www.jamb.gov.ng). To do this, they should select the quick link ad and then choose ticket/Support, using their email address to connect with the board. Candidates need to provide their name, phone number, and details about the complaint, selecting the appropriate complaint area from the drop-down menu and summarizing the issue. If available, they should also attach any supporting documents. Please note that complaints from third parties will only be acknowledged, and writing letters is not recommended. All concerns should be submitted through the ticketing system for efficient handling and record-keeping.

For complaints related to NIN, such as when a candidate sends a message to 55019 or 66019 to create a profile but does not receive a response or gets incorrect information, they can follow the same ticketing process. They should click on 2025 NIN-related issues and select the relevant topic from the drop-down menu.
